THE BRIDE
ELIZABETH RAE GEARHART Elizabeth, now 28, was born and raised in Shelby County outside of Edinburgh, Indiana. She attended Southwestern Elementary and then Jr/Sr High School and was three grade levels below John. After graduating high school in 2005, she attended Franklin College where she majored in Accounting, joined a sorority, and met some of her very best friends. She graduated from Franklin in 2009 and worked as an Accountant for Simon Property Group for four years, before she decided to embark on a new career as an Accountant with Yushiro Manufacturing America in Shelbyville, IN. She spends her free time away from work visiting wineries, Nashville, and Goodwill with her friends, hanging out with Sasha (the rescue dog John and Elizabeth recently adopted), spending time with family and trying to convince herself that she enjoys training for and running half marathons. She is thrilled to marry John because he treats her so well, makes her laugh, is always willing to listen to her “what if” scenarios no matter how ridiculous they are and to make her cheese fries or bring her chocolate. |
THE GROOM
JOHN ROBERT BLUE John, now 30, was born in Kentucky where he lived before moving to Indiana with his family when he was 4. He lived on the south side of Indianapolis before moving to Shelby County, outside of Franklin, IN when he was 10. He attended Southwestern Jr/Sr High School and graduated in 2002. John now works for RT Moore Mechanical Contractors in their Service Department as a Service Technician, but he has also worked in new construction for homes and apartment buildings, working in many different places such as Nebraska and Florida. He completed Plumbing Trade School in 2013 and passed the exam to obtain his Plumbing Contractor’s License. These days he spends his free time doing side jobs with his side kick Jonny, winning pool tournaments, watching the Colts (Believe in Blue!) and drinking Miller Lite with his friends. He is excited to marry Elizabeth because she is “smart, funny and wonderful.” |
TRUE LOVE
Although Elizabeth and John both attended Southwestern Jr/Sr High School, their three year grade difference, plus her braces and frizzy hair (she did not yet own a hair straightener) kept any sort of romance from blossoming. They reconnected at their favorite bar (JSL) in the spring of 2008, after Elizabeth approached John and delivered the witty opening line of “Are you John Blue?” Apparently that was enough for him because they next day he added her on Myspace and asked her to hang out sometime. They continued to see each other frequently at JSL and around Franklin, and finally John asked her out on a real date. They went to a party together on Valentine’s Day, and a week later they went out for dinner. They made it official a few months after that. Currently they live together in Elizabeth’s grandmother’s rental house in rural Shelby County and they recently adopted the sweetest rescue dog, Sasha the Shepard mix. Elizabeth knew that John had a ring and was waiting on the proposal, but John completely caught her off guard on the night he actually proposed. One Saturday Elizabeth had returned home from getting her hair cut and grocery shopping when John met her in the kitchen. They were discussing what to do for dinner that evening, when John suddenly collapsed to one knee and grabbed Elizabeth’s hand. The rest was a blur for both of them, but it ended with her saying “Yes!” and finally getting to wear the ring that she had been sneakily been trying on for days. The fact that she said yes wasn’t a surprise at all, considering that she already had a wedding venue booked. The two are excited to celebrate with their friends and family at The Commons on 11/22! |
